Partial Melting  Fusion partielle
The incomplete melting of a rock that occurs because the minerals that compose it melt at different temperatures. Elements composing low melting temperature minerals are removed first, consequentially forming a melt with a higher silica content then the initial rock. As a consequence, the magma composition, en the rocks that will results from eventual crystallization of this magma, evolves as temperature increases (adapted from: Grotzinger et al., 2007)
