Grenville Orogeny  Orogénèse de Grenville
An episode of mountain-building (orogeny) associated with the assembly of the ancient supercontinent Rodinia. The Grenville orogeny occurred at the end of the Precambrian around 1300-1000 million years ago along the southeastern margin of the then North American continent. The Gatineau Hills are the local remnants of these deeply eroded and highly uplifted mountains.
