Faunal Succession (Principle of)  Succession faunique (principe de la)
A principle stating that fossil species succeed one another in a definite and recognizable order. In general, fossils found in progressively older rocks show increasingly greater differences from species living at present (adapted from: Plummer et al., 2007).
