Foliation  Foliation
Metamorphic texture characterized by the parallel arrangement of planar features in a rock, such as mica crystals. Foliations develop in rocks submitted to differential pressure, but can be of various type (Cf.) depending on the intensity of metamorphism and the mineralogy of the parent rock.
